| Cephalonia takes pride in being host to some of the best beaches in the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean. Here, we present to you a small selection of the most representative ones. |
LASSI
MAKRIS & PLATIS GIALOS
| Two of the most beautiful and frequented beaches are located at a short distance from Argostoli: Makris and Platis Gialos. Both beaches are amongst locals' and tourists' favorites, since they are noted for their light blue waters and the fine sand. A rock separates one from the other and they are suitable for the young (as both beaches have modern bars) but also for families. The ideal period for a visit is between May and June, when they both look like exotic landscapes. |

LOURDAS |
| Lourdas, with its enchanting white-pebble beach, is reached by short detour on the road connecting Argostoli to Poros. Taverns along the beach attract all those wanting to dine with a view to the sea. |

MYRTOS |
One of Europe's most charming beaches is located on the way to Fiscardo. It is worldwide recognized as one of the 10 most captivating beaches in the world and indeed it is the most photographed one. It's not surprising that every year Myrtos is voted by visitors as the best beach in Greece. At the point where the seashore starts, white pebbles create exceptional hues of blue and turquoise. However, the shore shelves abruptly into deep waters requiring extra caution by novice swimmers. |
SKALA |
| Combining the bluest waters and a pine forest, the brown pebble beach of Skala offers a unique experience to even the most demanding tourists, who can choose among resting under a nearby shadow, sea sports or eating in one of the taverns near the sea. Spread over several kilometers, Skala is one of the invaluable ornaments of Cephalonia, being a base for the selective and the difficult to please. |

The visitor is enchanted by the dazzling white pebbles, reflected into turquoise waters, known for their clearness. Because the beach is both very close to Sami but in a remote place ideal for relaxation. |
XI |
| Xi beach is located at the southern part of Lixouri. The amazingly red sand extending all over the landscape is a unique attraction in Greece, rendering it into one of the most visited beaches of the island. The clear waters, so dominant in Cephalonian beaches are found here once again. The beach is safe for children and adults. |
| |
PETANI |
The pebble beach of Petani, with its crystal clear waters, is located northeast of Lixouri. The natives from this part of the island can take pride in having their own Myrtos, since Petani has slight differences from Myrtos, with an additional advantage: it is safer and less primitive, without lacking in beauty. |
POROS BEACH |
Poros is one of Cephalonia's most picturesque locales. It actually has two beaches. The smaller one, with white pebbles, is found in front of the central square of Poros and prompts the visitor to spend endless hours there, with direct access to several stores, rewarding him with unique colors in the afternoon. The larger beach of Poros starts from St. Gregory's Rocks and ends at Ragia. White pebbles, crystal waters and a green landscape form the scenery.
Other beaches of the area are found in Limenia (or Limania) where the recently paved road, passes next to the sea. Here, everyone can find his / her own harbor.

The beach is ideal for resting all day long by the sea since it provides ample shadow for an afternoon siesta or sun proof reading. |
