| TRADITIONAL FOOD: Bourgieto (sardines or anchovies with tomato, grilled), eggdrop cheese pie, eggs with tomato sauce, cuttlefish with celery and tomato, feta cheese with garlic snack (grilled garlic bread), stir fried garlic, potato salad with lentils, stuffed eggplants, stuffed tomatoes, (variety of boiled broad beans, corn, grain, black-eyed beans, the recipe is taken from the worship mysteries of Demeter, the earth goddess), aliada (mashed potatoes with garlic) beaten in the traditional mortar with lots of garlic, venetian pasticcio, roasted stuffed chicken, rabbit with garlic, rabbit civet, partridge pilaf. Visitors must absolutely try the traditional Cephalonian pies, made with home made crust: meat pie with goat meat, leek pie, octopus pie, vegetable pie and codfish pie. |

| Pastelia Pasteli is primarily made from honey and sesame. While it is not the island's exclusive candy, the Cephalonian pasteli is widely known because it is made from the exquisite local honey. You can find it all over the island. |
